Today’s Thoughts ☠️

Hey there 👋,

Welcome to another monthly deep dive for the COT community.

Once a month, I answer questions and explore topics for STT Premium subscribers, aka The Cult of Thoughts 🏴‍☠️ (not a member? Upgrade here).

These editions are like mini-books and toolkits designed to help you do your best work in your L&D career.

Catch up on recent editions:

Today, something a little different, we’ll explore how to craft (and show) value as an L&D team in a cult-exclusive podcast episode.

If you’re not a member of the cult, don’t worry. I’ll speak with you in the free edition on Tuesday.

Get your tea 🍵 or beverage of choice ready.

We've got lots to discuss!

THE BIG THOUGHT
To Create Value, You Must Change The Way You Play The Game

This month, I’m answering your burning questions.

A few weeks back, I asked you to submit questions on which you’d like me to share my thoughts. The response was HUGE. It was so huge I decided to select a few for a special podcast episode.

I don’t have a podcast anymore.

The TL;DR is they take a lot of work, and I prefer writing. Plus, the world is oversaturated with podcasts, especially in the interview space.

So, this is a bit different. It’s just me, a microphone and your questions.

The goal is to give you real stories with tangible actions to use in your world.

A lot of today’s questions focused on strategy and showing value. I reference a previous playbook on How to be a strategic L&D leader (a step-by-step guide).

It’s a perfect compliment to today’s chat.

Position, prioritise and perform

I won’t keep you in suspense.

We’ll cover:

  1. How L&D teams can make their work a priority when it’s seen as not urgent

  2. How to convince leadership to invest more in learning and development

  3. The best strategies for creating learning solutions that drive real behavioural change beyond just meeting business stakeholder requests.

Plus, I’ve pulled out the top 3 insights for you to think over below.

Enjoy the podcast, and let me know if you want more of these in the future.
