☠️ The Cult of Thoughts

Hey there 👋,

Welcome to another monthly deep dive for the COT community.

Once a month, I answer questions and explore topics for STT Premium subscribers, aka The Cult of Thoughts 🏴‍☠️ (not a member? Upgrade here).

These editions are like mini-books and toolkits designed to help you do your best work in your L&D career.

Catch up on recent editions at the Playbook Library 📚

Today, we’ll unpack how to build useful solutions and sell those solutions or ideas to your stakeholders.

If you’re not a member of the cult, don’t worry. I’ll speak with you in the free edition on Tuesday.

Get your tea 🍵 or beverage of choice ready.

We've got lots to discuss!

This could be you

Most of my time as a Head of L&D was spent convincing senior leaders that more e-learning or another PowerPoint presentation was not the answer to their challenge.

It felt like a continued presidential campaign.

One where I had to laser focus on one message to drive home in every conversation. These campaigns (as we’ll call them) taught me that two things were essential in crafting successful L&D projects and products people will value:

  • Good problem-solving skills

  • Selling your ideas through world-class storytelling

That’s what we’ll explore today.

I’ll break this into two sections.

In the first, we’ll explore a useful problem-solving framework I call “The Builder's Mindset.” In the second, we’ll unpack a method that’s helped me get multi-million dollar L&D projects signed off.

You can use these solo but they're more powerful together.
